Here’s making it to October and dealing with any obstacles that may have occurred along the way. It feels like a quick ride while trying to make time to stop and smell the scenery. For some of us it can be difficult to slow down and rest when we need to. So try to make it a priority in your life or your body will rebel against your unyielding nature. Speaking from personal experience, it happens every fall for me when work gets busier. It can be difficult fighting off any negative or overwhelming surrounding elements if you don’t take a few days off to regroup and rebalance anything that might throw you off course. Mark your calendars and keep notes to remind yourself of the little things that can keep you right on track.

Sleeping is the one of the greatest healers in life. Finally able to get some sleep after 10 days of disrupted sleep due to neck and back pain, thanks to a few visits to my physical therapist and chiropractor. Still working out the crimps. While sleeping soundly with no squirrels a scampering I was abruptly awakened to the sound of gunshots. “Who’s getting shot at?” was my first thought. Looking at the time, it was 6 o’clock in the morning and I remembered... oh yeah, it’s hunting season. Then my next thought was, “I live here. Why is there shooting where I reside? And what are they shooting at? Are they shooting the ducks that our dog Bella barks at or the ones that my neighbors feed in summertime; the ones they give names to that have become tame?” It doesn’t appear to be very sportsmanlike, or safe, for my family and me to have hunters shooting guns anytime of the day in areas where people reside. Could someone please inform me if this is allowable in our community living in the country?
Hunting season is a time that is valuable for people here in the northland who rely on it for their daily meals. For some, it is just for the kill of it. Everyone please be safe, protect yourself, and respect the rights of other hunters, your neighbors, and our wildlife during this hunting season.
Keeping off your toes
Here’s the latest: removing fat from your toes and it only costs $2,000 per digit. Some people are doing it to fit into tighter, more fashionable shoes and some are doing it because they think that their feet are ugly. And let’s not forget the many other feet problems people encounter and spend tons of money on orthotics, shoes and surgery’s due to ailments such as bunions, Achilles tendonitis, or heel pain due to arthritis and plantar fasciitis.
There can be many reasons for bad feet, mostly due to hereditary, falling arches, over usage and just not taking good care of your feet. This includes doing activities that can add more pressure such as running or heavy aerobic activity, excessive standing on your feet and not having the right support with proper fitting shoes. If you are wearing the same old shoes and doing the same physical activities that you normally do and your feet hurt, it is time for a change. Make sure to get the proper shoe and wear them around awhile on carpeting to make sure they feel good. There are inserts and orthotics available for shoes as well. It is also important for your feet to feel the ground without constant support or orthotics so they don’t lose their strength.
Try a few of these foot exercises and strengtheners:
• Calf stretches using stairs or a curb, alternating heels towards the ground hold each foot for 30 seconds.
• While sitting on the floor with one leg forward, place a towel or band around the ball of your foot and gently pull back feeling the stretch, hold for 30 seconds and repeat with other foot.
• Sitting on a chair place a towel under your foot and try to scrunch up the towel with your toes moving the towel towards you and repeat with other foot. Then repeat the exercise trying to scrunch the towel with your toes while moving the towel away from you.
